Noumenon, I saw the mags at my mom and that was my first thought. If they write about pornography, why not about pedophilia and what to do about it. I just scanned the mag. and it's on the shelf.

the current discussion of an ex-gb member has prompted me to ponder this question:.
just how much of our personal circumstances can/do we take responsibility for, and how much do we blame the wts?
you may have grown up as a jw, coerced into leaving early to pioneer, not go to university, have no kids, even stay single for the pursuit of singleness in the kingdom work to pioneer or go to bethel.
Ah, the power of suggestion! Knowledge is power and once I realize I have that power, I'm responsible. I have the means and power to think for myself and I take what whatever conequences befall me. I've come to learn to accept and live with the good the bad and ugly.
The org. didn't have that much influence on me, my conscience did. There were many times I went against my conscience and I paid the price, so be it! Nothing like the school of hard knocks.

with all the recent political threads, i have a question.
what do you think/feel/believe the government or your country *owes* you as a citizen?.
i am talking about pensions, health care and other *social services*.

i dont understand why the wts doesnt donate some of its time and resources to charity.
surely helping others in need would classify as a (the) christian act, and would bring a good witness.
imagine peoples perspective of the wts if they helped financially with high profile disasters.
Yeah, it's interesting to know how they only apply Jesus words, 'You receive free, give free' to sharing 'verbal' information, not 'printed' material. Compelled voluntary contributions. In other words shaming people, to donate.
They have grossly violated James 1:27, "The form of worship that is clean and undefiled ... is this...to look after orphans and widows in their TRIBULATION..." Are they referring themselves as orphans and widows?
Good question, where does the rest of the money go especially when the scriptures tell us that it will be thrown in the streets during the great and fear inspiring day of God.
I wonder if they know that its all FIAT money. Money that has no intrinsic value. Why don't they write about that in their literature. The soap opera continues.

I'm glad to know that not all people are gullible. I don't mean this to be demeaning to others who believed in the 1975 fiasco. Deception and misinformation is a great tool to control people.
It's unbelievable how people keep trying to get away with scaming others. I happened to be watching this mornings news about telemarketing scams, this one scammer was being video taped and he lied his ass off when questioned by a reporter as to why he gets 90% of the take. He denied it. To top it off, he said, he's protected by the first amendment! Isn't that a beaut.
I guess it's, 'Buyer Beware' in everything.

just heard on the radio that america's beloved bob hope has died at age 100. they're dying off so quickly this year.

How sad. I was just thinking about him the other day. I wonder if they will keep the Bob Hope Golf Classic tournament in memory of him. They didn't with Bing Crosby.
I enjoyed Bob Hope. He hasn't made many public appearances and I still missed him.

Goph, one of the underlying reasons for my thinking was, there was so much work yet to do. The main clue that stays with me is, NO man knows the day and hour. What could be more plainer than that? It's like asking, what part of NO is it that you don't understand?
